He hadn't called her, but somehow she was waiting for him. "I knew you'd come." He looked startle, and she smiled, her dark lipstick making her teeth look even more pristine. "And I saw your car parked outside."
Grissom smiled and shook his head. "I think you would do well at my job, Lady Heather."
She smiled and offered him a seat as she sat in a straight-backed chair "I do believe we've had this conversation before, Mr. Grissom."
"We may have."
The table between them was set with an ornate tea set, though one Grissom hadn't seen before. "Tea?"
Waving it away, he shook his head. "No thank you."
Lady Heather poured herself a cup and added a dab of cream as he watched. She stirred it, then brought it to her lips, sipping elegantly.
Silence stretched between them as she enjoyed her tea. Finally setting the cup down, Lady Heather folded her hands into her lap. "What brings you here tonight, Mr. Grissom? I know there hasn't been another crime committed by one of my employees."
He shook his head, eyes on her lips. "No, there's no crime. I wanted to apologize to you again."
She nodded. "Apology accepted." She paused, waiting. "There's something else." It wasn't a question.
He took a breath. "How do you start something you didn't mean to stop?"
Her smile was gentle. "You say go."
